Miele is a German manufacturer of high quality domestic appliances, commercial equipment and fitted kitchens. It was founded in 1899 by Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann and has always been a family-owned, family-run company. Since the beginning, the Miele motto has been "Immer Besser" or "Forever Better" and this philosophy is still reflected in the legendary quality and longevity of the products.

Miele Ovens

Miele is a German company which is, in a very corporate world, still family owned. They make a large range of household appliances and put the same degree of design and build quality into every one. Their ovens come in a wide variety of sizes and prices and include many useful innovations such as combination built in microwave and conventional ovens, real space savers in a smaller kitchen.

Miele appliances are co-ordinated so that ovens, fridges and other equipment in the kitchen can blend together. They are not available in bright colours; the styling is for long-lasting good quality which with the high build specifications may well outlast many cabinets and worktops. Miele ovens come in different shapes and sizes too, from compact to extra large, so will suit any size family. The brushed stainless steel which is the most popular finish is especially manufactured to repel fingermarks and look new for longer. The glass doors are all easy-clean and shrug off burned on stains.

Anyone familiar with the Miele name will not be expecting any of their ovens to be cheap, but in fact they start from around £450 with the Miele H4000 series and go up to over £6000. At the top of the range you do get a whole lot of oven with the visually stunning and function-packed Miele H5981BP.

Intensive Bake

This is called the pizza function in some other makes and is perfect for baking anything that needs a crisp crust as the heat comes from below. The Miele H4412B is in the mid price range and includes this function.

Rapid Heat Up

Any cook will appreciate the rapid heat up of all Miele ovens across the range. Using both bottom and top elements and the integrated fan, any Miele oven can heat up to 180°C in fifteen minutes. This is the time even the simplest dish would take to prepare, so your Miele oven is ready when you are.

Top Heat

Also available across the Miele range, the option of having heat from the top element only is a really important one for any serious cook. Many dishes which need minimal cooking actually require fiercer heat from above to create a crisp topping or to brown a meringue. This feature of Miele ovens means that there is no need to fiddle with a cook's blowtorch, a gadget which can be unreliable and dangerous.

Auto Roast

Any serious cook will tell you that it is important to sear meat at a high temperature before roasting for a lower temperature for the rest of the time. Difficult to achieve, but not with this programme, which does it automatically.

Slow cooking

Being able to slow cook without needing yet another gadget on the worktop is a real plus in Miele ovens. You can use your normal cookware to achieve mouth-wateringly tender results with cheap cuts of meat.

User favourites

In the higher end Miele ovens there is a facility for programming in the temperatures and times of up to thirty of your favourite recipes, meaning that with one press of a button, the food will be perfectly cooked.

Defrost function

With this function on all Miele ovens across the price range, foods can be defrosted gently by air at room temperature being passed over it. This means there is no 'defrost burn' as sometimes happens in a microwave on defrost and no need to mask exposed areas to prevent drying out.

Fan Grill

By using the fan and infra-red grill together, the food is grilled more efficiently and does not have to be moved around. This is particularly useful for delicate foods such as fish, which have a tendency to break up as they start to cook.

Sabbath Program

Showing the amazing Miele attention to detail, the top range ovens include this program in which the oven will keep to a preset temperature for 72 hours allowing people of those faiths which preclude working or using machinery on Sabbath days to still cook normally.
